New Bankers Will Complement Rothschild's Energy Practice Worldwide

Rothschild announced today that two leading oil and gas investment bankers - - Edwin E. Wells, Jr. and Richard Ennis - - have joined the firm. Mr. Wells joins as a Managing Director and Mr. Ennis a Director in Rothschild's New York-based Investment Banking Advisory Group.

Both bankers were previously at UBS Warburg where Mr. Wells had been a Managing Director in their Global Energy Group. Mr. Ennis was a Director in their Corporate Finance Department, specializing in oil and gas, global power and pipelines.

"We are delighted to welcome two such highly regarded bankers as Ed and Richard to the firm," said Gerald Rosenfeld, Chief Executive Officer of Rothschild North America. "They are among the most experienced international oil and gas investment bankers in the business today."

Mr. Rosenfeld added, "Rothschild has historically been a leader, worldwide, in providing corporate finance advice to energy companies. Ed and Richard's arrival not only complements, but reinforces and further strengthens Rothschild's capabilities in this vital industry sector."

With over 20 years experience, after commencing his investment banking career at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Wells is well known in the oil and gas industry as a specialist who provides merger and acquisition and corporate finance advisory services to U.S. and international petroleum companies, including major integrated energy companies; refining, marketing, trading and pipeline transportation entities; and oil & gas exploration and production companies. Over the years, Mr. Wells has advised such companies as: BP Amoco, Exxon, Mobil, Conoco, Elf Aquitaine, Total, Shell, Sunoco and Citgo, to name a few.

After five years as a petroleum engineer with Tenneco, Mr. Ennis has had over 15 years of experience in providing corporate finance services to U.S. and international petroleum companies including: Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil, Coastal, Occidental Petroleum, Enron, Woodside and PDVSA.

Mr. Wells holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He is also a graduate with distinction of the University of Virginia Law School and College of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Ennis holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College.

Mssrs. Wells and Ennis are the latest additions to Rothschild in the U.S. which, in January, recruited Mr. Rosenfeld to significantly expand its investment banking and strategic advisory services throughout North America.

Over the past few months, Rothschild has been attracting high-level talent to the firm including a Restructuring Group that advises companies on bankruptcies, recapitalizations and reorganizations. Rothschild also formed a strategic alliance with Global Technology Partners, a firm led by former U.S. Secretary of Defense William Perry, which specializes in the defense and aerospace industries.

Rothschild is an international investment bank. It has offices in over 30 countries around the world, including: London; Paris; New York; Toronto; Frankfurt; Milan; Hong Kong; Beijing; Shanghai; Singapore; Sydney; Melbourne; Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.
